The Iola Police Department is looking for information on recent car burglaries that took place between the evening hours of the 29th of January and the early morning hours of the 30th of January. Most of these burglaries have taken place in the southeast part of Iola. The burglaries have been kept to mainly vehicles that have been left unlocked. If you see anyone walking that you feel is out of the ordinary then don’t hesitate to call the police to report them. We are asking everyone to lock your vehicles and don’t leave items of value in your vehicle. Please hit share and help us spread the word. Burglary of O'Shaughnessy Liquor Store
August 11, 2013
In the early morning hours of Sunday, August 11th, just after midnight an unknown white male wearing black shorts and no shirt entered the business of O’Shaughnessy’s Liquor Store located at 1211 East Street in Iola. The person made entry into the store by breaking the front glass door. The suspect left the store running south through the alley.

Stolen Gator
April 26, 2013
Sometime between 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday the 24th of April and 6:50 a.m. on Thursday the 25th of April unknown persons cut a lock at John Deere in Iola that locked up a RSX850i Green Spot Gator. The person then drove the gator to the north off of the lot of John Deere. The loss is valued just under $16,000.

Between Friday March 22nd at 11:00 p.m. and Saturday March 23rd at 1:15 a.m. an unknown person cut two tires on a vehicle in the 300 block of south Fourth St. in Iola.
Between Tuesday March 26th at 8:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. same day an unknown person broke a side rear window of a mini van parked in the 100 block of South Jefferson Ave. in Iola.
Between Friday March 29th at 11:50 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. unknown persons entered a home by force in the 400 block of South Sycamore Street while no one was home and took a sum of cash from the residence.
Between 8:00 p.m. on Friday March 29th and 9:00 a.m. Saturday March 30th an unknown person entered a home in the 200 block of South Morrill Street in Gas and removed a silver colored HP laptop computer, a silver colored Vizio laptop computer, a black in color Acer tablet, and a gray Xbox 360 game system with two controllers.
Between 10:00 p.m on Saturday March 30th and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday March 31st an unlocked vehicle was entered in the 500 block of South Buckeye Street in Iola and a black and red in color Bustin long board (skate board) was removed. The board is also said to have clear colored white wheels.

Arson and Burglary

On December 22nd at 10:55 p.m. fire units were dispatched to a hay fire near 1600 and Missouri Rd. After arrival, it was discovered that approximately 12 bales of native grass were burnt by what appeared to have been set by a flare gun of some sort.
Sometime between December 3rd an December 31st unknown persons entered a garage in the 800 block of North Washington and removed a 2011 black in color Harley Davidson XL 1200. No other information about this case.

Counterfeit Money

Between Saturday January 5th and Sunday January 6th unknown persons passed counterfeit $50 and $20 bills at several businesses in Iola. Investigation is ongoing at this time. If you have question when receiving bills please call the Iola Police or Allen County Sheriff’s office to look at the money.

Hay fires
December 22, 2012
On December 22nd between10:55 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. unknown persons set fire to 12 round bales of hay near 1600 and Missouri Rd. The fire was set with a flare like shell that could be shot from a gun.

Allen County Crime Stoppers and Allen County Sheriff are seeking information about the person or persons who drove by the east side of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and fired a gun at the building. Crimes of the Week 10/22/2012
Between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on October 14th, 2012 unknown persons removed a portable DVD player and one monitor from a vehicle that was parked in the Walmart parking lot.
Between the hours of 11:00 p.m. on October 12th and 9:20 a.m. on October 13th, 2012 an unknown person removed a wicker chair, wicker love seat, and a matching glass top coffee table from the front porch of a residence located at 16 W. Garfield in Iola. Both the chair and loveseat had a matching red in color cushion that went with the seat.
Between 1:00 a.m. on October 10th and 4:00 p.m. on October 11th, 2012 unknown subjects entered a vehicle that was parked in the 300 block of North Kentucky in Iola and removed a Gateway computer blue and black in color, a game boy video gaming system, a cell phone charger, and a mouse for a computer.
